The sounds of Santa Muerte are the result of a joint artistic residency made in Mexico City with the Mexican artist Miguel Mesa, who recorded part of the sounds of the piece. The residency took place between September and November of 2015 in Mexico City. The residency was possible due to the program of cultural residences of the cultural center Casa Vecina, with the support of the Carlos Slim Foundation and Centro Histórico.
Santa Muerte is a modern multifarious branch of Catholism in Mexico, the phenomenon of it it’s has an important boom in recent years, a boom some experts endowed to the war against Narco that Mexico has grieved in recent years.
