The Mediastudio is a professionally equipped and sound-isolated hall of the theater. For the “Dark Sounds in White Nights” festival, the audience is invited to experience sound works chosen from the Ö1 Kunstradio archive in 5.1 format, along with 8-channels pieces hosted by the Floating Sound Gallery. The listening program presents the spectrum of ideas on the subject of the “Dark Sounds in White Nights” with artists from all over the world.

Floating Sound Gallery
As a venue to present multi-channel pieces, Sound Art Gallery works at the junction of art gallery, concert hall and music label. The listener is invited to comprehend sound works as if they were sculptures or pictures, out of the “time” dimension – that compares it with an art gallery; from a concert hall, leaving behind the practice of a stage, Sound Art Gallery inherits a practice of musicking; finally, since there are no other wide-spread facilities home or portably or else for listening to multi-channel, Sound Art Gallery offers an extension as a music label.


Ö1 Kunstradio – Radiokunst
was founded in 1987 by Heidi Grundmann as a weekly space for radio-art on Österreich 1 – the cultural channel of ORF, the Austrian National Radio. Kunstradio defines itself as a point of access for artists to the unique context of National Public Radio. Kunstradio has been online since 1995.
