Peter Pessl’s new radio piece is inspired by extensive trips to Tibet, Nepal and Northern India and refers thoughts about radio art, about travelling as an physical and mental art form, but also about politics, history and spirituality. Pessl invents an “inner soundscape” of the Tibet that exists in his mind. For this, he doesn’t use any primary material, sounds that were recorded on site, but solely material from other sources and contexts that is therefore not illustrative or realistic but foreign and broken. An objective reproduction of reality is not possible, claims the author, every artistic approach is an interpretation, fed by imagination.

A website with additional photos and texts is an extension of the radio piece: http://www.kunstradio.at/2007B/TIBET/index.html
