As educator, interaction designer and researcher, Serena develops projects that combines open source hardware practices and community-driven approaches with interaction design methods. Since 2009, she has coordinated hands-on workshops for designers, artists, makers, and kids on the basics of physical computing, DIY electronics, digital fabrication, open data and computational design. At SUPSI university, she leads the project Re-programmed art and the FabLab SUPSI, where she develops programs and research projects to generate innovations by lowering the barriers to technology development via prototyping. She collaborates with a network of organisations, such as WeMake makerspace, TODO media&interaction design, Jenyooin, Creative Hub CH, We Are Play Lab.She has a Ph.D in Design Sciences from the University Iuav of Venice and a Master’s degree in communication sciences and technology from the University of Lugano.
