Sound calligraphy is hand-drawn and sonificated speech sounds. Images from acoustic frequency patterns of spoken words form the basis of a calligraphic system of symbols, which is sonificated in a live performance by use of brightness values .
Speech sounds become perceptible – the painted sound as an artificial voice.

Program

At the workshop the technology to generate sound with hand-drawn spectograms will be explored and the participants can draw their own calligraphies and sonificate them.
