The sound installation translates the intensity of sunlight into a mechanically rhythmic pattern. Solar cells extend in various directions toward the window panes in order to transform sunlight into energy and cause small motors to vibrate. A multitude of similar but autonomous insectoid, robotoid apparatuses produce short, subtle sounds. In the unpredictable rhythmic chaos a would-be order and structure arises, a constantly shifting pattern. The white light of the night becomes paler and weaker, the sounds fade out, the pattern grows thinner and thinner, becomes scant and unreal… until the light within the foyer goes on and a new form of rhythmic chaos is generated, fed by the constant uniformity of the artificial light source.
