Bit Face

Bit Face is Sharon Graham from Glasgow, Scotland. Currently Bit Face runs a successful 8 bit and chiptune night in Glasgow where she is also the resident and sometimes visual artist. She has been producing 8 bit chunky beats for close to 5 years and has been performing live for 3 of those. Originally starting with 1 gameboy and 1 sequencer, her live set up has grown and she can now be seen with 2/3 gameboys, effects/noise boxes and the classic commodore 64 which is used as a keyboard.

Unlike many chiptune artists who are predominantly melody driven, Bit Face makes beats that would sound at home at your local techno/electro nightclub. Drawing influence from the likes of Adult., Le Car, Legowelt, Aphex twin and music with an analogue orientation as well as the Glasgow club scene. “Machines and their noise is what excites me the most about making music!”

After graduating last year with a B.A honours in textile and surface design, it’s easy to see that music is a huge influence in all the areas of her creative output. Combining her love of machines and 8 bit and intertwining these influences with her designs. Her inspiration for making pixel pattern fabric stemmed from ideas of visual music and artists such as John whitney, Norman McLaren, Stan Brackage to name a few.

Bit Face has had releases on American label, sinkhole and is due to independently release her forthcoming E.P sometime in the near future.
